Celebrations allow plenty of opportunity for both retail & foodservice to get creative, and the Platinum Jubilee (PJ) is no exception, especially after the rather arid last couple of years. Expectations are high for plenty of partying with an expected £1billion boost to shops & pubs as customers seek to purchase beer, champagne & alfresco party foods. The British Beer & Pub Association reckon an extra 30 million pints will be pulled in comparison to a normal bank holiday, with pubs given the go ahead to open until 01:00. Co-op Group have stated they are expecting to sell 30,000 bottles of champagne, that’s three times the normal amount for a normal bank holiday weekend along with 300,000 ice lollies! (The Mirror)

Quintessentially British is the predicted trend, a recent poll suggested that almost half the nation are saying that the PJ weekend will be an opportunity to eat more British dishes in honour of her Majesty (Marie Claire, April). Products & occasions synonymous with the time of year, think afternoon tea parties, garden parties, street parties, in fact everything alfresco (always carry an umbrella, we are in Britain remember…) picnics, BBQ’s, fire pits & wood-fired pizza ovens.

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height="20px"][/vc_column][vc_column width="1/2" css=".vc_custom_1653575613146{padding-top: 0px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #168679 !important;}"][vc_column_text]

British produce is fully expected to be the hot seller for planned celebrations: think fresh produce, deli items & butchery along with plenty of liquid refreshments to wash it all down with (Speciality Food Magazine, April). Classic retro dishes dusted off & re-invented putting in timely appearances: Coronation Chicken, Victoria Sponge, Scotch eggs, Summer Puddings alongside trifles & Corgis!

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height="50px"][vc_column_text css=".vc_custom_1653576223014{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-right: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 20px !important;padding-left: 20px !important;background-color: #ffeed1 !important;}"]

Whichever way you look at it the celebrations allow plenty of opportunities for retail & food service alike to reap rewards with plenty of Jubilee themed product placement.
